How Can I vote?

Voter registration for the primary to be held on July 15, 2008 must be completed by June 16, 2008. You can register to vote at the Board of Elections in the Whitfield County Courthouse.

The Primary Election will be held on July 15, 2008. If it is difficult for you to go to your polling place on that day, you have two options: Advance voting and Absentee Ballot.

Advance Voting: Advance Voting will be held at the Whitfield County Courthouse in the Board of Elections’ office July 7-11, 2008. Any registered voter can vote at any time between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on those days.

Absentee Ballot: If you will be out of town on July 15, 2008, have a disability or other cause that would make it difficult for you to go to your polling place on election day, you can request an absentee ballot by calling 706-278-7183 or requesting an application by mail at Board of Elections, 205 N. Selvidge Street, Suite K, Dalton, Ga. 30720. The Board of Elections will mail you an application for Absentee Ballot which you must submit. After checking your registration status, the Board will mail you an Absentee Ballot. The Board must receive your Ballot in their office by 7 p.m. on July 15, 2008 in order for your vote to be counted.
